MeltingMirror says: "Initially I was to make a Sailor Uranus for this No Flutter group but I wasn't sold on the look. I also purchased this lovely red wig, a dark copper red Arwen from Arda , for a cosplay in the far future that I wanted to use for other projects because I want to get my money's worth out of my lacefronts. I love evil characters because they are so fun to play. So I opted to make my own Queen Beryl design. The tricky part was to make it to match the rest of my group which are recreations of No Flutter's designs." |

"I found a historical period that complimented the design of the other No Flutter Sailor Scouts, so I modeled my design after a 1770's robe à la polonaise. I went for a full ball gown look to contrast the scouts, similar to how Beryl has a fitted mermaid dress while the scouts have short skirts in the series. I wanted to have a corset with pointed edges as an ode to Beryl's original look. I kept the colour scheme simple with purple and black, with a hint of green and I incorporated roses so that it was cohesive with the rest of the group, since flowers are a theme throughout No flutter's designs. The staff I made is a mix of designs the character had in the past." |

"I purchased a 6-ring hoopskirt from AliExpress which was not as wide as pictured but I can't complain for $11 with free shipping. I made a petticoat with pink nylon from a bolt I had sitting around. It has 3 tiers, with the top tier having extra fluff for a nice hip to waist ratio. To smooth out the shape of the skirt, I made a slip with excess cotton I had laying around. Without it, the tiers of the petticoat would make my outer fashion layer bumpy." |

"The base is made of 5m of heavily pleated synthetic taffeta from Fabricville. Next time I'll just bite the bullet and cartridge pleat it. The front panel with the black roses is a silk brocade from Mood Fabrics. The draped fabric is 3m of black silk organza, also from Mood. I did multiple rows of gathered stitching and I set them by twin-needle stitching some black ribbon on top. I decorated the ends with one inch double faced black ribbon bows and one little black crystal to hide the stitching. At the end of the draping I attached spiked beads, since Beryl has a lot of pointy bits to her design. The two front edges of the drape were finished with a satin bias tape, which was then hand stitched down to the taffeta to keep it from shifting around." |

"Since the skirt was so thick with pleating I couldn't add any more layers without my machine protesting. So the scalloped hip pieces were hand stitched to the corset. The scallops and the corset were made with satin from Mood. I added black Venetian lace to the edges which I bought from AliExpress. The corset is lined with twill and I used leftover double fold bias tape for the bone channels. The bones are a mix of spiral steel and plastic. It laces up in the back with eyelets and black ribbon. I stitched the seams flat with twin needles. I hand stitched on a big beaded applique to the front of the corset which I bought in New York a few years back but never used. I also hand stitched down the black roses and leaves along the waist that I purchased from Michael's. Tip: Glue together the multiple layers of the flowers or else they might fall off, leaving you with one set of petals." |

"I had the necklace sitting around in for years. Talk about practical. My circlet is made of leftover chains, beads, and crystals. I included green crystals as an ode to her occasionally wearing green gems. Maybe in the future I'll complete a hat or collar as pictured in my design sketch pictured above." |

"The shaft is a one inch wooden dowel. At the bottom is a Worbla covered foam ball coated in red metallic paint. The vine detail is made of Worbla scraps. The top of the staff is a Christmas bulb. I painted the inside with glass paint and stuffed it with white curtain sheers. An LED is embedded inside all the Worbla in the base and sticking through a hole I cut into the bulb with a hot knife." |
