Sionna as Sailor Mars in a costume she made herself.

"Just by looking at it, you might able to see that I did it manga-style. How can you tell? Well, look at the number of stripes on the sailor collar. The anime has Mars only with one stripe while the manga has 3. Unfortunately, due to the size of the collar pattern and the size of the midy braid that was used, only two could actually be fit onto the collar. Lol. Compromise between anime and manga. Hehe. ^^;
To make the costume, first I looked at how other people had done it in terms of fabrics. For the pattern, me being such a perfectionist and wanting as accurate as possible, used a combination of a Sailor Moon pattern from McCall's (which was a child's size and had to be altered) and a pattern for an ice skater's costume. From there, the patterns were modified to fit the specifications of me and my niece (Makoto/Jupiter). Mind you, my mother is the pattern drafter. ^^; Lol."

"For the fabrics, I chose a suiting cotton. Why? Because it doesn't wrinkle as badly as satin does and it falls nicely. ^^ (As you can tell by looking at the purdy pleats in my skirt.) For the bows, they're made from fabric so that I could get the size bow I wanted. To do them from ribbon would have limited me in the bow's size. (Unless I dyed white ribbon...something I didn't wanna do.) The gloves are simply white long gloves from Claire's (the only time I have ever entered that store in a couple years was to buy those gloves) over the glove "covers" of the Sailor Moon pattern. The "sleeves" and the red part of the glove cover were created that way by my mother so we could achieve the full, accurate, "look" of the manga."

"Fire Soul!"

"Supreme Thunder!"

"I'm squishing your head!"
Sionna recently got a new wig for her costume, and entered Cosplay Lab's Sailor Mars look-a-like contest.
Here are some of the CGs she made for her entry.
You can see she copied Mars's many poses exactly.
Obviously she must've done it right...
Because she ended up placing second, out of 22 entries!
